United States Central Command (CENTCOM) described recent claims by the Islamic Republic’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, that Iranian military forces do not attack “civilians of neighbouring countries” as false, stating that Iranian attacks in recent months have resulted in the deaths of more than 20 civilian mariners.
Early on Monday morning, November 2, 2026, CENTCOM posted on its official X account that the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic had recently claimed that Iran had not attacked civilians of neighbouring nations, but that this assertion was incorrect.
In response to Araghchi’s statements, CENTCOM stated: “Iran has not only deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure, residential neighbourhoods, and other facilities of neighbouring countries along the Persian Gulf, but has also intentionally attacked civilian mariners at sea.”
According to CENTCOM, attacks by the Islamic Republic against civilian mariners have led to the deaths of over 20 people in recent months.
CENTCOM concluded its message by labelling the Islamic Republic’s actions as “indiscriminate aggression,” writing that such acts are entirely evident and unjustifiable.
