Centene Corp. received preliminary approval for a $750,000 class settlement covering 98 California-based employees who say they weren’t reimbursed for business expenses while working remotely for the company’s subsidiaries.
The settlement provides average payments of about $6,000 to 50 remote workers who are exempt from wage and hour laws, Magistrate Judge Allison Claire of the US District Court for the Eastern District of California said in a preliminary approval order issued Wednesday. Average payments of about $9,375 will go to 48 non-exempt remote workers, who also claim they were underpaid and denied proper meal and rest breaks.
