CEO slapped with 7 charges of making false claims from PERKESO - New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR: A chief executive officer of a company was charged at the Sessions Court here with falsifying documents to claim Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) Penjana Kerjaya hiring incentives totalling RM112,000.

Noorun Nashriah Ramli, 42, pleaded not guilty to all the seven charges before judge Azura Alwi. Mohammad Shaiful Nasir prosecuted and Lum Kok Kiong represented the accused.

Noorun Nashriah was charged with falsely making the claims from PERKESO through an individual between July 13 and Oct 1, 2021 at the PERKESO Putrajaya office.

She was accused of having submitted invoices for the claims of participants who had registered for but did not attend PERKESO'S hiring incentive programme with the intention of deceiving the agency.

She was charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act. It carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount received or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction. She claimed trial to all the charges.

Prosecutor Mohammad Shaiful proposed for RM80,000 bail with one surety and set conditions of surrendering the passport and for the accused to report to the MACC office once a month. Her counsel Lum requested for a lower bail of RM35,000. Lum said that the bail should not be seen as a punishment to the accused.

"This is her first time being charged in court. She has two children and parents under her care, hence the RM35,000 bail is a reasonable amount....
