The CFTC properly denied a whistleblower application submitted by a onetime bank employee who said that the information he provided prompted an investigation into five major banks more than a decade ago.
Stephen Jennions, who is now deceased, didn’t give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission original information that led to probes into institutions such as Citibank and JPMorgan Chase Bank, the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit ruled on Tuesday.
The CFTC also correctly rejected Jennions’ claim that there was “undue control” within the commission that led to his denial, the court ruled.
