Charlamagne tha God called out Republicans for falsely claiming President Joe Biden’s administration has been ignoring those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
The storm, which hit the southeastern United States over the week, was especially destructive in North Carolina. In the immediate aftermath, some Republicans — including Donald Trump — have accused Biden of deliberately withholding aid because it’s a red state. Biden has denied those claims; and elected officials in the state have even praised the president for his administration’s response to the hurricane.
Charlamagne called it “nuts” the way a natural disaster has turned into a political issue.
“You know, it’s actually nuts that at a time like this, FEMA has to take the time to debunk lies created by the GOP,” Charlamagne said on Monday’s episode of The Breakfast Club. “I know it’s election season, but everything can’t be politicized. This is a natural disaster. People are dead; people are hurt; people are injured; people need help. It don’t matter if they’re Democrat; it don’t matter if they’re Republican. Just figure out how to help them. I don’t like when they use that, you know, and politicize it and weaponize it just to get at their political opponents. That’s wack.”
