A report of a possible kidnapping in Rosemont, Illinois, turned out to involve a missing child from Chicago who made false claims, police in the northwest Chicago suburb said Monday morning.

In the early-morning hours, police dispatchers were heard saying an 11-year-old child was thrown from a car near the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel, at 5300 N. River Rd. near Foster Avenue.

But police said later Monday morning that a missing juvenile from Chicago ended up at the hotel and started making "unverified claims."

"After reviewing video, it was confirmed the juvenile was picked up at O'Hare Airport and driven in a shuttle bus to Loews Hotel, telling the driver a parent was waiting at the hotel for him," police said. "What he told others was that he was tossed from a vehicle (which has been proven to be false)."

The child was later reunited with his mother, police said.

Information in the case was later passed on to Chicago police for a missing persons case regarding the child, Rosemont police said.
