From Whistleblower to Asylum Seeker

Guan Heng, now 38 years old, originally came to the United States in 2021, seeking refuge from potential reprisals by Chinese authorities after documenting alleged abuses in Xinjiang — a vast region in northwest China where activists say up to one million ethnic minorities, especially Uyghurs, have been held in detention facilities and subjected to harsh treatment.
