Cho Sae-ho's Return Sparks Organized Crime Controversy - 조선일보

Controversy surrounding broadcaster Cho Sae-ho’s return has reignited after the whistleblower who previously raised allegations of ties to organized crime reaffirmed their stance.

Whistleblower A revealed on their SNS on the 7th, “When Cho Sae-ho stepped down from all broadcasts and showed signs of reflection, I refrained from further disclosures. However, hearing about their return after only about three weeks made me furious.”

A claimed to have heard that Mr. Choi, allegedly a close acquaintance of Cho Sae-ho, fled overseas, questioning, “Why would someone who threatened to file a lawsuit flee abroad?” They added, “Cho Sae-ho’s return proceeded swiftly after this incident. One must consider whether this timing was coincidental or prearranged.”

A further suggested, “There’s a possibility that a major law firm was consulted for legal review after the withdrawal,” and noted, “It’s hard to dismiss as coincidence that Mr. Choi’s attorney belongs to Kim & Chang Law Firm.”

While clarifying, “I don’t personally dislike Cho Sae-ho,” A emphasized, “A public figure maintaining ties with socially controversial individuals and returning to broadcasts without clarifying the relationship invites moral criticism. I’m not asking for three years of seclusion. If Mr. Choi is punished, I won’t object to their return. But the current situation is unjust.
