Singer and actor Choi Jeong-won (44), formerly of UN, said the facts had been clearly confirmed regarding allegations of an affair and shared news of winning the related lawsuit.
On the 26th, through social media, Choi said regarding lawsuits over violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, intimidation, and instigation of defamation, that the facts had been clearly confirmed by the appellate court’s ruling on several claims raised online recently.
Choi said the false claims spread by “A,” such as “mistress,” were not true, and that the claim A instructed a spouse to spread—that “Choi Jeong-won demanded money and demanded meetings”—was also false. Choi added that the ruling found guilty the act of instructing others to spread such false content (instigation of defamation).
Choi continued that the appellate court sentenced A to a 3 million won fine on charges of defamation, instigation of defamation, and intimidation, and shared the ruling.
Choi also released an audio recording in which A appears to urge a spouse to spread false information. In the recording, A is heard telling a spouse, “If you sue Choi Jeong-won, it’s usually 30–40 million won, but the lawyer said since he’s a washed-up celebrity, you could probably pull as much as 100 million won.”
