Circularity Scotland rush to spare Lorna Slater's blushes as they change website to match her false claim - Scottish Daily Express

The administrators of Scotland's under-fire drinks deposit return scheme were forced to rush and change their website to match up with a false claim Lorna Slater made during a car crash interview.

Circularity Scotland, a new body charged with looking after the initiative, made a significant change to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section of their site as they deleted a deadline for producers.

This tweak came just hours after Ms Slater, who is the government minister fronting the project,

As she took part in a car crash interview where she failed to answer pressing questions about the scheme, the Scottish Greens co-leader rejected claims that drinks firms were being forced to sign up for it by the end of this week.

She claimed that this deadline did not exist and the claims were "not remotely accurate." However, during the interview on Circularity Scotland's website there was a line which said that while the deadline for registration is February 28, producers need to “make sure that you have begun the registration process with Circularity Scotland before 17th February to allow us to process your registration with SEPA.”

But then when this was pointed out to the organisation, they quickly changed the text to read: “Make sure that you have begun the registration process with Circularity Scotland as soon as possible to allow us to process your registration with SEPA.”

It has led to accusations that the group, t, was brazenly trying to protect Ms Slater.
