Republicans in the Texas Senate want the state’s public health department to launch a new website to gather complaints about the COVID vaccinesand initiate an independent study of adverse side effects.
Their recommendations rely in part on testimony from two doctors, Robert Malone and Peter McCullough, who have repeatedly spread misinformation about the pandemic and the vaccine. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee is also proposing a ban on mask and vaccine mandates and a number of recommendations to improve statewide data collection and hospital staffing in a report issued in mid-December.
