After three women have been found dead over several days, Jacksonville police are denying any claims that a serial killer is behind the crimes.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has denounced any claims that a serial killer is responsible for the deaths of multiple women across the First Coast.
Over the past several days, three deceased women have been found by JSO.
Over the weekend, one woman was allegedly shot behind a business in Mandarin, while another was found under a bridge on Blanding Boulevard. The third woman was found on Monday afternoon in a rooming house on the city's Westside.
In a statement made to Facebook, JSO says that they are "aware of rumors" that a serial killer is responsible for these incidents; however, they confirm that these rumors are false.
The full statement by JSO can be read below:
"JSO is aware of rumors circulating about a serial killer on the loose in Jacksonville. We can confirm these claims are FALSE. Our detectives are investigating recent homicide cases that involve female victims, following the facts and evidence in each case. We will share updates as soon as we are able to, but we want to reassure the community there is no danger to the public related these incidents."
