WANA (Aug 02) – Iranian informed sources have rejected reports claiming that the Islamic Republic has agreed to a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that there has been no change in Tehran’s policy regarding the strategic waterway.
A source close to Iran’s nuclear negotiating team denied reports suggesting that Tehran had reached an agreement on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, saying that Iran has made no such deal and that the reports are false.
An informed military source also dismissed the reports, stating that no new decision has been made regarding the status of the Strait of Hormuz.
The source said that as long as what he described as hostile actions by the United States continue, the situation in the strategic waterway will remain unchanged. He added that vessels would only be allowed to pass through designated routes with coordination from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy and after receiving clearance.
The military source further warned that other routes would be considered unsafe and that vessels attempting to transit without coordination could face risks.
Iranian sources emphasized that claims about Tehran approving any plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz are inaccurate, and that no decision or policy shift has been made regarding the strategic waterway.
