An evening student who has been juggling more than most, Rachel Farrar ’26 JD has balanced law school while working as a professional singer in the choir at Saint Bartholomew’s Church on Park Avenue in New York City and becoming the foster parent of an infant during her 1L year.
Drawing on her first career as an actor and singer, she has developed a strong interest in entertainment law—particularly music copyright and production legal work—alongside a commitment to labor and employment law. At Fordham Law School, she was a leader on the student board of Fordham’s Media and Entertainment Law Society and spent a summer interning with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) in her New York City constituent services office, an experience she says she “will always cherish.” Farrar recently joined a midsize law firm in New York, known especially for its entertainment work, where she will divide her time between its labor and employment practice group and the general litigation practice.
What is your hometown and where did you study before Fordham Law?
I’m from Lexington, Kentucky, but I have lived in New York City for 18 years. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music in voice performance from the University of Kentucky.
