YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jeong-won) received a summary order of a fine from a university classmate accused of falsely reporting that she ate food and vomited.
According to the legal community on the 30th, Judge Kim Jae-hak of the Criminal Division 11 of the Seoul Central District Court issued a summary order on the 6th imposing a fine of 7 million Korean won on Mr. Oh, who faces charges of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. A summary order is a procedure where property penalties (fines, penalties, confiscation) are imposed through written review without a formal trial in cases where the charges are not particularly severe.
Mr. Oh is accused of reporting false information in November 2020 to YouTuber Jujak Gambyeolsa (real name Jeon Guk-jin), stating, “I witnessed Tzuyang vomiting after filming a mukbang of Daewang Pasta.” This content was disclosed on a YouTube broadcast in July 2024. Tzuyang’s agency filed a complaint against Mr. Oh with the Hyehwa Police Station, and the prosecution, which received the case in December 2024 and conducted supplementary investigations, summarily indicted Mr. Oh last month. Although Mr. Oh denied the charges, claiming he only stated the facts, the prosecution determined the charges were valid, considering that the day Mr. Oh met Tzuyang was the day the Daewang Pasta mukbang was aired, not the day it was filmed, and that witnesses present made different statements.
