GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio — A post on social media claiming that the FBI has been banned from doing community outreach is gaining traction in Northeast Ohio.
THE CLAIM
A viewer reached out asking about this post because it includes a picture of a sign that was allegedly placed out at the Geauga Family YMCA. The sign claims that their scheduled FBI event — called "Scams targeting seniors" — was canceled because of an executive order banning community outreach. So let's VERIFY if this is true.

EXPLANATION
When checking the Geauga Family YMCA, I found their latest newsletter for active older adults showed there was an "FBI presentation on scams" scheduled for Feb. 17. A representative with the YMCA confirmed to me that this event was canceled.
I reviewed an email that the YMCA received from someone within FBI that read, "I've been told that outreach has been discontinued in compliance with an executive order that (was) recently signed. Unfortunately, that is all the information i have at this time."
After seeing this, I reached out to a spokesperson with the Cleveland FBI, and they told me:
