Life coach, Nancy Umeh has issued a public retraction and apology over her previous accusations against Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa.
Nancy had earlier alleged that Pastor Blessed was abusive towards Mercy and claimed she was enduring a toxic marriage.
The allegations quickly went viral on social media, sparking public backlash and the couple threaten legal action.
However, in a statement posted on her official Instagram page, Nancy admitted that her claims were false, unfounded, and based on misinformation. She also offered an unreserved apology to the couple for any harm her comments may have caused.
“I regret the pain my words have caused and I retract every statement made against Mercy and her husband. It was a grave error,” she wrote.
Nancy acknowledged that her actions could have damaged the couple’s reputation and admitted she had no concrete evidence to support her initial claims.
The retraction came after the couple’s legal team issued a formal warning, demanding a public apology and threatening legal action if the defamatory remarks continued.
As at the time of filing this report, Mercy Chinwo and Pastor Blessed had issued no public response to the apology.
