Speakers are alumnus Abraham Ceesay, Janai S. Nelson, and Martin J. Walsh
Three distinguished leaders in healthcare, law, and labor will address graduating students Sunday, May 21, at Suffolk University’s 2023 Commencement ceremonies.
Suffolk Commencement speakers are Abraham Ceesay, chief executive officer at Rapport Therapeutics and a Sawyer Business School alumnus; Janai S. Nelson, president and director-counsel of the Legal Defense Fund; and the Honorable Martin J. Walsh, executive director of the National Hockey League Players’ Association and former US labor secretary and Boston mayor.
The 2023 ceremonies will be held outdoors at the Leader Bank Pavilion. Ceesay will deliver the Commencement address for the Sawyer Business School at the 9 a.m. combined undergraduate and graduate ceremony, while Walsh will address the College of Arts & Sciences combined ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Nelson will speak at the Law School’s 5:30 p.m. ceremony.
“Our three commencement speakers are impactful leaders in their fields,” said Suffolk University President Marisa Kelly. “Abraham Ceesay, Janai S. Nelson, and Martin J. Walsh have all demonstrated their commitment to serving the greater good. They are improving lives through advances in disease prevention and healthcare, civil rights, and expanding economic opportunity. They are inspiring examples for our graduating students, and we look forward to hearing their words of wisdom and encouragement for our graduates.”
