Company director charged with submitting false claims - New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR: An electronic company director was charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court with five charges of submitting false claims worth RM87,500 to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) under its Hiring Incentive Programme two years ago.

Raymond Sim, the owner of Minbot Sdn Bhd, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges before Judge Rozilah Salleh today.

The 35-year-old allegedly submitted a false claim under the Hiring Incentive Programme to Perkeso with the intention to mislead the organisation.

Raymond was alleged to have committed the offence at the Putrajaya Perkeso offices last year.

The charge was framed under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and punishable under Section 24(2) of the same Act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code (Act 574).

The charge is punishable under Section 24(2) of the MACC Act which carries not more than 20 years jail term and a fine not less than five times the amount or RM10,000 whichever is higher.

Prosecuting Officer Mohd Aliff Saharuzaman when prosecuted asked the court to impose RM50,000 bail with one surety.

The accused, represented by lawyer Reuben Ong, pleaded for minimum bail.

The court set RM10,000 bail with one surety and fixed Feb 28 for mention.

MACC and the Perkeso had launched Op Hire to investigate allegations of false claims and misappropriation of PenjanaKerjaya incentive funds in several states.
