JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) has detained the owner of a construction company and the general manager of a marine-based company.
The suspects, both men aged 30 and 39, respectively were arrested to assist in an investigation for allegedly submitting false claims worth RM150,000.
They were detained at the Johor MACC office on Tuesday (April 19) at 6pm and 8.30pm when giving their statements to be recorded at the MACC office here.
The general manager of the marine-based company had in 2021 approved the three claims submitted by the owner for the supply and installation of cabins from the owner of the construction company.
The approval was given despite it not being in accordance with the specified specifications.
Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests and the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
Both suspects have been brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (April 20) to obtain a remand application.
