Agartala, 5^th January 2026: A complaint has been lodged against Tripura Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, in the West District and Sessions Judge Court for allegedly making derogatory and false remarks about SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das.

According to Advocate Raju Datta, on October 10, 2025, Chaudhury told the media that Minister Das’s brother is the highest taxpayer in Tripura and possesses substantial assets. He is also alleged to have made further claims regarding the minister’s family property, implying that their wealth increased after Das took office.

Advocate Datta stated that these claims are entirely fabricated and intended to defame Minister Das. “The complaint has been filed in the West District and Sessions Judge Court, with Public Prosecutor Biswajit Dey listed as the complainant. These statements are completely false and aimed at maligning the minister’s reputation,” he said, emphasizing that the allegations have no factual basis.
