A Texas nurse practitioner sentenced to prison for defrauding Medicare owes the federal government about $25 million in trebled damages and penalties for violating the False Claims Act.
Trivikram Reddy was sentenced in May 2021 to 20 years in federal prison and ordered to repay more than $52 million in restitution for his role in a health care fraud conspiracy. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in October 2020. The government in a parallel case alleged that he violated the FCA by submitting false claims for pain management and weight loss treatments.
