Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto was re-elected to a second term representing Nevada in the U.S. Senate, giving Democrats continued control of the chamber and disappointing Republicans who believed they had a strong chance to seize the majority in the midterm elections
Ms. Cortez Masto, 58 years old, defeated Republican Adam Laxalt, a former state attorney general. Her win gives Democrats control of 50 seats, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking ties, even without a result yet from the Dec. 6 Senate runoff in Georgia.

SENATE
- Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly won re-election. Mr. Kelly, a former astronaut and Navy veteran, beat Blake Masters, an ally of billionaire Peter Thiel, in a race that became highly competitive in the final weeks. Arizona will continue to have two Democratic senators.
HOUSE
- Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer, a former mayor, defeated Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner to flip an Oregon House seat.
- Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez defeated Republican Joe Kent, flipping a House seat in Washington state previously held by a Republican and chalking up one of the biggest upsets of the cycle.
- Three incumbent House Democrats—Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford—beat their Republican rivals in Nevada contests that were highly competitive.
