Court upholds firing of ex-MSP trooper who sued as whistleblower - Detroit Free Press

An appeals panel upheld the dismissal of a former Michigan State Police trooper who had sued the agency, alleging wrongful termination and arguing that he was fired because he blew the whistle on supervisors drinking on the job.

Former MSP Trooper Mark Andrews, originally of Ida, sued the agency claiming whistleblower protections after he was fired in 2021 for complaining that state police supervisors were drinking on the job and in violation of COVID-19 pandemic rules in 2020. The MSP investigated and cleared those allegations, according to previous Free Press reporting.
