Accusing Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan of falsely claiming that he met K.H. Mohammed Hussain, an accused in the MDMA case, only after he was injured in the police action during the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s Navakerala Sadas, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State secretary M.V. Govindan on Thursday displayed several photographs of Mr. Satheesan with the accused, purportedly taken before the said date.
“We have seen several photos of the accused with the Chief Minister in formal and informal situations. The Chief Minister also claimed that Mr. Hussain was not his social media coordinator as claimed. However, Mr. Hussain has put up a post in his Facebook page that he has been a part of Mr. Satheesan’s social media team for the past five years. If the claim was untrue, why did the Chief Minister not object to it? The transfer of the nodal officer of Operation Toofan anti-drugs campaign also raises suspicion about the government’s intent,” said Mr. Govindan.
Mr. Govindan also countered Mr. Satheesan’s assertion that the previous LDF government had removed the video of an interview that he had given to a news channel ahead of the Assembly elections. “Since the Model Code of Conduct was in force at that time, the decision was taken by the Election Commission, which was then headed in the State by Rathan U.
