Crackdown on false claims - The Star Online

PUTRAJAYA: Hundreds of companies are now being investigated over what could be many millions of ringgit in false claims under the PenjanaKerjaya recruitment and training incentive programme.

The owners of the companies involved have been identified and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is now in the process of recovering all the false claims that had been paid out.

“I warn those involved to come forward immediately before the MACC knocks on their doors,” said MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya.

He said those who came forward voluntarily and returned the false claims would not be charged in court.

“Those who remain defiant will have to face serious action,” he added.

Ahmad Khusairi also confirmed the arrest of 47 company directors under Ops Hire 2.0 for allegedly making false claims through the PenjanaKerjaya initiative.

The suspects, who were arrested in a nationwide blitz, had allegedly made claims of between RM450,000 and RM2mil.

In the previous Ops Hire 1.0, a total of 74 people from 60 companies were arrested, involving false claims amounting to RM88mil.

Yesterday, 19 suspects were remanded in Selangor, Melaka, Terengganu, Pahang and Perlis.

In Pahang, a company owner as well as its director were remanded for seven days for making false claims amounting to RM4mil.
