A spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of China's State Council has refuted claims by Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council over maritime controls during Typhoon Dolphin this month. Answering a question from CGTN at a press conference on Wednesday, spokesperson Zhu Fenglian said there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China. She said China has sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction across the Taiwan Strait, and that mainland maritime authorities perform their duties in accordance with the law.

On the one hand, the Democratic Progressive Party authorities maliciously hyped up the issue and used it as an opportunity to smear and attack the mainland. On the other hand, they went to great lengths to echo external forces and sell out Taiwan's interests. By abandoning their national position and harboring sinister intentions of pursuing 'Taiwan independence,' they will inevitably suffer the consequences of their own actions.
