ST. GEORGE — The popular Crumbl Cookies franchise has been found in violation of federal child-labor laws resulting in $57,854 in penalties based on findings in 11 stores in six states.
The federal investigation revealed violations by the Lindon, Utah-based franchise network, allowing young employees – many 14 and 15 years of age – to work more than the law permits or in hazardous or prohibited occupations, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.
The St. George Crumbl store was not named, but Utah stores in Centerville, Layton and Ogden were. Including Utah, the federal investigation uncovered violations affecting 46 workers at Crumbl Cookies’ locations in California, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Tennessee and Washington, the news release said.
