Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (CSG Law) is growing its employment practice with the addition of David Cohen.
As a member of the group, Cohen advises clients on labor and employment matters in the public sector, the Roseland-based law firm said in a Dec. 2 press release announcing his arrival.
Cohen joined CSG Law after serving four years at Rutgers University as vice president for university labor relations and special counsel to the university president. Prior to that, he spent seven years as an associate vice president and deputy general counsel for the university.
In both roles, Cohen advised the school on labor and employment matters, including the development of labor negotiations strategy. He also acted as the lead spokesperson for Rutgers in its collective negotiations with its faculty and staff labor unions.
Before Rutgers, Cohen was tapped in 2010 by then-Gov. Chris Christie as director of the governor’s office of employee relations. During his four years in the administration, Cohen was the governor’s spokesperson in collective negotiations with all labor unions representing employees in the executive branch.
Cohen’s experience also includes time as a partner at Saiber LLC in Florham Park and Carpenter, Bennett & Morrissey in Newark, according to his LinkedIn profile.
