Arnold & Porter partners Dipanwita Deb Amar and David Reis were named to the Daily Journal's 2023 list of “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers.” The annual supplement profiles California's “top lawyers advocating for workers and employers.”

Daily Journal’s profile of Amar highlighted her work pushing back against complaints filed under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and noted her appellate victory for her client Beverages & More! Inc. In the profile, Amar explained that plaintiffs view PAGA as “a mini class action, but without the procedural constraints,” and said the appellate decision “showed that courts have the power to manage their cases, even in PAGA matters.”

Reis, head of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, was profiled for being a “go-to lawyer” in his handling of complex labor and employment matters. Daily Journal highlighted Reis’s success negotiating hospital collective bargaining agreements and praised his “cordial approach" to labor negotiations. The publication also noted Reis’s help in averting a nursing strike for a California hospital through mediation.

Amar and Reis have been consistently recognized as top labor and employment lawyers by Daily Journal, with Amar being named to the list 10 times since 2012 and Reis being named 13 times since 2010.
