Dallas rabbi who spread Hamas rape claims held for 'child abuse' - The New Arab

A Dallas-based rabbi who publicly promoted false claims that Hamas had carried out mass rapes during the 7 October 2023 attack has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a child.

Rabbi Yitzhak Mei Sabo, 43, a former tank sergeant in the Israeli military, was taken into custody by Dallas police on 1 April and charged with indecency with a minor.

He is being held on $100,000 bail, according to The Times of Israel, which cited an internal email from the Akiba Yavneh Academy.

Sabo had been employed as director of 'Jewish life' at the Modern Orthodox academy and has served as spiritual leader of the North Dallas synagogue Tiferet Israel since 2022.

According to local media, Sabo is accused of pulling down the pants of a male student and inappropriately touching him over a period spanning several years, beginning when the student was in ninth grade.

The allegations also include claims that Sabo watched the student shower and gave him so-called "massages".

The school placed Sabo on administrative leave on 27 March and barred him from campus or school-related events. An internal investigation is underway.

In a letter to parents, the school described the accusations as "shocking and serious", stating the alleged conduct was incompatible with the school's stated values.
