At his Lincolnshire home, former fund manager Daniel Sheard leads an idyllic early retirement. His days are spent walking his dog, cycling the rolling countryside, and collecting apples to make his own cider. But it wasn’t meant to be this way — at least not yet.
Sheard has been prematurely put out to pasture because he tried to do the right thing, risking his career and his friendships by calling out financial wrongdoing among high-flying City financiers.
For years, Sheard, 54, locked horns with Greensill Capital, a firm that counted David Cameron as an adviser and collapsed last year amid a multibillion-pound financial and political scandal.
