'David and Goliath'?: Fired Employee Sues Disney for Allegedly Using Him as 'Scapegoat' in Company Cyberattack - Law.com

A software engineer who was fired from the Walt Disney Co. is suing his former employer in California state court, claiming he unfairly took the fall after his and other Disney employees' sensitive information was exposed in a cyberattack.

Matthew Van Andel, who worked for Disney for seven years, filed a complaint against the Walt Disney Co., Disney Worldwide Services Inc. and Disney employee Sara Petty on Feb. 26 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Van Andel, represented by April Ramirez of the Ramirez Legal Group in Beverly Hills, alleges nine causes of action, including wrongful termination, slander, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Ramirez said that the damages from his termination were assessed to be "in the eight figures."
