Covid-19 has introduced myriad legal questions for employers. That’s why this year, the Business Journal reintroduced its list of the largest employment and labor law firms in the Puget Sound region.

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP had the largest labor and employment practice in the region, according to Business Journal research. Mark Berry, head of DWT’s labor and employment group, spoke with the Business Journal about the challenges his firm has advised clients through since the pandemic began.

What challenges have you seen working in labor and employment law? The workforce has changed dramatically, in that so many employees are working remotely that now you need to apply all sorts of human resource processes and laws to a remote work setting. Also, the laws and recommendations about keeping your workforce safe and healthy and providing support and benefits have changed rapidly. Sometimes on a local level, sometimes statewide, sometimes federally. Any employer that runs a multistate operation has a range of state and local laws they need to pay attention to and comply with.
