Debevoise Adds Litigators in Bay Area in Strategy to Support ... - Law.com

New York-based Debevoise & Plimpton opened up shop in the Bay Area in late 2021 to be closer to its tech and investor clients. Now it is adding litigators to help those same clients and others.

The firm is adding Josh Cohen, a litigator and white-collar trial lawyer with two decades of experience working in California, and Abraham Tabaie, a broad-range commercial litigator, to its office in the Bay Area, the firm said Tuesday.

Cohen joins Debevoise from Bay Area boutique Clarence Dyer & Cohen (now Clarence & Dyer), where he spent the last 12-plus years and was a name partner. Tabaie moves over from Skadden, Arps, Meagher, Slate & Flom, where he was a partner for the past 11 years.

Debevoise leaders say the white-collar defense and litigation practices have been utilizing what they call “the matrix,” which is a strategic plan that identifies the firm’s current and prospective clients on both the West and East Coasts and maps back potential work that could be done for them.

Maura Monaghan, co-chair of Debevoise’s commercial litigation group, and David Sarratt, co-managing partner of Debevoise’s San Francisco office, said it has helped direct their bicoastal efforts to bring the most value to their clients, and the new hires support those...
