It has been reported that President Trump repeatedly, and falsely, claimed during the meeting that the United States has "no inflation." However, data shows that the U.S. had an annual rate of inflation of 2.4% in May, an increase from a 2.3% annual rate in April. Furthermore, monthly consumer prices also rose 0.1% in May on a month-to-month basis. Speaking about his new domestic policy bill, President Trump repeated his false claim that it achieves his campaign promise of “no tax on Social Security.” In reality, it adds a temporary $6,000 deduction for seniors over 65 and a smaller deduction for individuals earning $75,000 per year or more. However, the White House has acknowledged that the legislation leaves most Social Security benefits still taxable. The deduction excludes those under 65 and expires in 2028. Trump also insisted that sending letters to foreign leaders announcing new tariffs constituted a "deal." However, the letters merely outlined his unilateral tariff plans and are not the result of negotiations....
