Decision of the Day: George Floyd Protestors' Claims For ... - Law.com

A motion to dismiss arose out of an action related to the allegedly unlawful arrests of plaintiffs as they protested the murder of George Floyd in May and June 2020.

Plaintiffs asserted six causes of action in their complaint, which sought a declaratory judgment that New York Criminal Procedure Law (CPL) §150.20 prohibits arrests for eligible low-level offenses; damages for violations of the New York State Constitution; as well as claims for false arrest; assault and battery; and excessive force.
