Decision of the Day: Plaintiff's Qui Tam False Claims Action Against Verizon Survives | New York Law Journal - Law.com

Plaintiff brought a qui tam action under the NY False Claims Act (NYFCA), alleging defendant telephone carries systemically under-remitted surcharges intended to fund the 911 emergency system.

Specifically, plaintiff argued that telephone company defendants knowingly underbill 911 surcharges and submit false remittance forms to local governments to conceal the underbilling.
