The attorney for an intelligence community whistleblower said he would take the unusual step of contacting congressional Intelligence committees directly about a complaint filed with an inspector general concerning alleged conduct by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Andrew Bakaj, the attorney, said in a Tuesday letter to Gabbard he would seek to provide the “unclassified briefing on Ms. Gabbard’s conduct and the underlying intelligence concerns” on Feb. 9 absent clear security guidance from the DNI by Feb. 6.
The escalation comes as the Intelligence Community’s inspector general said in a Monday letter that the whistleblower’s complaint “did not appear credible” after getting security guidance from the DNI on how to discuss the complaint with Congress.
