Delhi Police has rejected allegations that Congress leader Deepender Hooda or any other politician has been placed under house arrest, describing the reports as misleading and baseless. The police urged the public not to trust unverified information or share such claims.
In a statement posted on X on Friday, Delhi Police said: “The claim that Deepender Hooda or any other politician has been placed under house arrest is misleading and baseless. No such action has been taken. Citizens are requested not to believe unverified information and to refrain from sharing it.”
This clarification follows the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) announcement of a planned protest on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of electoral rolls. The protest is part of a broader political dispute between the Opposition and the Election Commission of India regarding alleged “vote chori” and the revision of electoral rolls.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police denied permission for the CJP to hold the demonstration at Jantar Mantar, citing previous law and order breakdowns in the area. An official police letter stated that although permission was granted for a one-day protest on an earlier occasion, the gathering continued for about a month, resulting in injuries to more than 200 police personnel.
