The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to accuse Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, of violating the Public Official Election Act on the 24th. The day before, during a TV debate, when it was pointed out that 'Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon shed tears upon being arrested on charges of pre-election activities,' candidate Kim responded, 'That’s a nonsensical lie,' thus publicizing false facts.
The election strategy committee's legal support group of the Democratic Party noted, 'If you look at a 2019 video from Kim Moon-soo TV, which candidate Kim operated himself, it can be confirmed that candidate Kim said, “If our pastor gets arrested, it can never happen,” while tearing up.'
The support group stated, 'In fact, the pastor next to him comforted him by saying, “Don’t cry, it’s okay,” and also in a 2020 video of a sermon from the Sarang First Church, candidate Kim shed tears saying, “If Pastor Jeon had been here, we wouldn’t have suffered like this.”
Earlier, during the second TV debate for presidential candidates the previous day, Lee Jae-myung remarked to Kim Moon-soo, 'It seems unfortunate that you still have not severed ties with the pastor who shed tears when he went to prison,' calling it 'a deep relationship with right-wing forces.' In response, Kim denied, saying, 'You shouldn’t speak false facts,' adding, 'If I am charged with false factual publicizing crime again, that would be a repeat offense.'
