House Democrats called on the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) inspector general to investigate new whistleblower claims that the agency’s haphazard implementation of President Donald Trump’s anti-mail voting executive order could unleash chaos and disenfranchise millions of voters this November.
Writing with “extreme alarm,” ranking Democrats on the House Oversight and Administration Committees asked USPS Inspector General Tammy Hull in a letter Wednesday to “immediately” open a probe into the whistleblower’s allegations.
“If the Postal Service proceeds with the implementation of President Trump’s executive order ahead of the 2026 midterm election, and these disruptions occur, a free and fair election is impossible,” the House Democrats told Hull. “You must investigate the Postal Service’s reckless actions, which undermine the foundation of our nation’s democracy and violate the basic principle that all citizens have the right to have their vote counted.”
“Millions of voters could depend on your ability to quickly and thoroughly investigate the Postal Service’s apparent misconduct,” the lawmakers warned.
