Republican candidate for Minnesota governor, House Speaker Lisa Demuth, introduced a whistleblower protection plan for state employees.
The plan offers protections for state workers who report fraud directly to the legislative auditor or inspector general. It would also require each state agency to appoint a whistleblower coordinator.
Rep. Demuth said the executive order outlines the creation of an anti-fraud task force.
“Minnesota can’t afford the status quo,” Demuth said. “We have to protect the people who are doing the work who then protect the taxpayers,” Rep. Demuth said.

“As Governor, I would make sure whistleblowers are protected and encouraged to come forward with reports of fraud, and I have sponsored and led numerous bills that would provide protections for government whistleblowers and prohibit discrimination against them – including with Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who leads the effort in the Senate to protect whistleblowers.”
