Bhopal: The crime branch of the Madhya Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested Vyapam scam whistleblower Anand Rai from a hotel in Delhi. The leak of the Madhya Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (MP-TET) paper was recently revealed by Anand Rai.
His arrest occurred at Hotel Kabli in New Delhi and he will be taken to Bhopal.
Rai is a doctor by profession, and he shared information about his arrest on Twitter. "I have been detained by Crime Branch Bhopal from Delhi's Hotel Kabli, all the workers, well wishers reach Bhopal," he posted the tweet at 11:15 pm.
Earlier, Rai and Congress leader KK Mishra had claimed that Chief Minister's OSD Laxman Singh Markam had been involved in the MP-TET paper leak case.
The duo then claimed that the screenshot of an MP-TET question paper that went viral on social media had been leaked from Markam's cellphone. Following the claim, there was a controversy in the state.
As a result of the accusations, Markam filed an FIR against Rai and Mishra, alleging the pair shared "misleading information" about him. He accused Rai of sharing screenshots of a person with his name on social media.
Rai then approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court to seek its intervention in the issue, but the court dismissed his plea on Tuesday.
