Detectives investigating the death of a baby in Staffordshire woodland have hit out over 'damaging misinformation' being shared online. And officers have said the 'false claims' can impact the ongoing probe into the tragic death of the three-month-old baby in Great Wyrley.
The Sentinel reported how officers, paramedics, and the air ambulance were sent to woodland near Strawberry Lane at around 8.45am on September 5. Paramedics say that sadly nothing could be done to save the youngster.
As part of the probe police arrested four people on suspicion of murder including a 42-year-old man, of South Staffordshire, a 30-year-old woman, also of South Staffordshire, a 20-year-old woman, of Wolverhampton, and an 18-year-old man, of Walsall. They were all bailed.
At the time detectives had urged the public not to speculate over the circumstances of the tragedy. Now the force has responded to 'false' online claims.

A spokesperson said: "We're aware of disinformation circulating online suggesting that the four people arrested in connection with the tragic death of a baby in Great Wyrley are migrants. This is completely false.
"This type of information can be incredibly damaging to an ongoing investigation and can directly impact on our ability to gather evidence and secure outcomes.
