Detroit Prohibition on Street Vendors Near Sports Arenas Upheld - Bloomberg Law

Detroit didn’t violate the due process rights of three street vendors by denying them licenses to operate within 300 feet of the city’s Little Caesar’s Arena, the Sixth Circuit said.

The arena is home to Detroit’s hockey team, the Red Wings, and its basketball team, the Pistons. The plaintiffs had previously operated in the area where the arena was built, but when it was opened in 2017, they were denied licenses for their old locations under the city’s rule prohibiting street vendors within 300 feet of sports venues.
