Devotee booked for making ‘false claim’ of cockroach in laddu prasadam at Srisailam - The Hindu

The Srisailam police have registered a case against a devotee from Kavali for his alleged false claims of finding a cockroach in the laddu prasadam given at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Srisailam.

On June 29, the devotee, K. Saran Chandra, and his friends picked up an argument with the laddu counter staff, alleging they found a cockroach in the prasadam they purchased from the counter. They took a video of the same in their mobile phones, and the same was telecast by a few television channels.

An inquiry by the temple officials revealed that the devotee had intentionally placed a locust in the laddu and made false claims that he found a cockroach in it. The CCTV footage also revealed that his friends handed over a cover to Mr. Saran Chandra after which the latter made the allegation.

“We have received a complaint from the temple authorities and we have registered case against the devotee on charges of hurting the sentiments of people under relevant Sections of the BNS,” Srisailam circle inspector G. Prasada Rao said.
