The body was found just outside Magic Kingdom
A person died at Disney World earlier this week of an "apparent suicide" near the Contemporary Resort hotel, officials said.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, a body was found at the hotel near the Magic Kingdom park outside Orlando, Fla., Entertainment Weekly reported.
"This is an apparent suicide," a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office told the outlet, clarifying that, contrary to information circulating on social media, the person "was NOT struck by the monorail, so that is erroneous information."
When asked about footage that shows a white tent being set up on a balcony of the hotel and reports that the body was found on the tracks of the monorail, the representative declined to comment further.
"We don't release additional information in cases of suicide," the spokesperson said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office and Walt Disney World did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment.
Call data reviewed by CBS affiliate WKMG confirms that authorities received a report about the death around 6:40 p.m. local time along North World Drive. An investigation is ongoing.
