The chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) lashed out at President Trump after he claimed that he won the election in Minnesota “all three times.”
“You lying piece of s‑‑‑,” Ken Martin posted on social platform X. “I chaired the Minnesota DFL for all three of your runs here. I watched you lose. Three times,” he continued, referring to the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party.
Martin was responding to comments the president made Friday afternoon during a meeting with top oil executives about the U.S.’s involvement in rebuilding Venezuela’s oil industry.
Separately from the issue of Venezuela, the president was asked by a reporter to address reports that the U.S. attorney general’s office had removed local authorities from an investigation into the fatal shooting of a woman by ICE officers in Minnesota.
State authorities who had originally been assigned to work jointly with the FBI on the investigation were notified Thursday that the investigation would now be pursued solely by federal investigators.
On Friday, the president blamed “crooked officials” in Minnesota, citing the Department of Justice’s mass welfare fraud investigation in the state.
“I mean, Minneapolis and Minnesota, what a beautiful place, but it’s being destroyed,” Trump said. “It’s got an incompetent governor, a fool, I mean, he’s a stupid person.”
