The Justice Department is attempting to “strengthen” False Claims Act enforcement by revising its Justice Manual to boast “clearer standards that promote fair and effective enforcement.”

The revisions are meant to clarify when the department will seek to dismiss whistleblower and other qui tam actions that don’t “serve the interests of the United States,” DOJ announced Friday.

The updates also are designed to “clarify the limits” of how DOJ lawyers use of sub-regulatory guidance in department litigation.
